“The Wild Life” is a collection of risograph prints produced by Damn Fine Print in collaboration with five artists; Cathal Duane, Bronagh Lee, Stasele Jakunskaite, David McMillan and Steve McCarthy. The collection called on these artists to embrace their inner animal, and design a piece that would challenge and embrace the quirks and aesthetics of the risograph.

About the Artist
Ashwin Chacko is an Indian illustrator & designer living and working in Dublin. He is interested in uncovering the social interactions that drive culture. He seeks to capture these moments in bold lines & shapes, his compositions focus on a strong use of characters intermingled with typography and patterns. He likes to describe his work as ‘positively playful.’

About the Piece
”It’s sad to think that it has taken a tragic death for us to talk about racism. This is a human race problem and affects us all over the world.  We need to think generatively to shift the balance of power, so we can once more stand shoulder to shoulder in a new social order. It begins with empathy, an ear to listen, a mouth to speak out, and a hand that takes action to fight to defend human life. The good news is it’s not too late. Each day is an opportunity to be better to do better. Martin Luther King said it best "the time is always right to do right.”

About the Project
Our group collection 'Dawn' was put together at during the latter stages of 2020, calling on our Damn Fine Print members, to each respond to the theme of "Dawn" through their respective approaches to printmaking.

About the Artist
Conor is an illustrator, printmaker and designer currently based in Dublin. Conor’s work typically consists of bold shapes and bright, limited colour palettes inspired by the aesthetics of screen printing and risograph printing. Conor is also a member of the Team here at Damn Fine Print, working as a risograph technician and Graphic Designer.

Fatti Burke is an Amsterdam-based illustrator from Co. Waterford, Ireland. She has been working as a freelance illustrator since she graduated from the National College of Art and Design in 2012. Her work revolves around the things she loves – food, home, memes, animals and tradition.

About the Artist:
Jimmy Hay is an illustrator and graphic artist currently based in East London. He graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2015 where he studied Graphic Design. His main interests include narrative and story telling and how these can be combined with a distinct graphic language. He has experimented with traditional printmaking techniques and has a particular interest in Risograph. His work is often bold, colourful and fun with some subtle elements of texture. He has worked for clients such as BBH London, Scoop Magazine and Article Magazine.

This print was part of Folklore, a risograph exhibition celebrating the worlds of skate, graffiti, music and tattoo. Curated by Magnus Mudrack and Damn Fine Print.

My piece 'Olympus' is inspired by ancient Greek illustration - this piece, in particular, was inspired by illustration seen on an archaic Panathenaic amphora depicting men in a race which is now situated in Metropolitan Museum of Art. I wanted to capture the ancient Greek style but also express movement and playfulness with loose mark making, meshing together an ancient culture with a more modern one: Skateboarding.
