About the print Hollys piece for Damn Fine Print aims to embed a confrontational slogan about refusing existing power systems in our society into what could be seen as a traditionally feminine aesthetic - hence flowers, folds and fuck the patriarchy.
Pereira’s practice explores the amalgamation of text and image through hand drawn lettering and illustrated type.The process involves treating letters as if they were imagery, and weaving other motifs around them, while also playing with typography and all the bells and whistles that come with typographical design.
About the artist
Holly Pereira is an illustrator who specialises in illustrated type and lettering, murals and sign painting.
After receiving a B.A. Honours in Fine Art from the National College of Art & Design in 2004, she spent 7 years practicing as a painter, with exhibitions and residencies in Dublin, London, Berlin and Singapore. In 2016, she introduced sign painting into her practice, and brought her work to a larger scale with murals and wall drawings
