About the Piece
This piece explores the theme of "Electric Dreams" and highlights the disconnection felt in a technology-driven era. It reflects on the paradoxical belief that the solution to problems caused by technology is more technology. As human advancements enable us to explore beyond our planet, the significance of our connection to Earth becomes more apparent. However, tech billionaires with rockets rush toward Mars, although the reality of such experiences has started to sink in. They sent William Shatner to space and it made him sad! Looking down at the Earth he thought “It was life. Nurturing, sustaining, life." Because everything we know and love is here on Earth.
Back on the ground more billionaires are trying to convince us to strap screens to our faces as a means to improve our existence, disregarding the appreciation for our current world, which is being lost. Go Outside.
