About the Piece
A vibrating sun dazzles on azure waters and a glowing heat can be felt from the scene. This screen print captures a moment of life in the sun on the rocky shores of Hydra.

Clare Blackwell-Hydra Series
This series of 4 limited edition screen prints is based on the light, memory and colour of the Greek Islands, and
created from the artist’s original illustration works. The fabled island of Hydra, once a haven for artists during the
1950s and 60s is illuminated in the artist’s response as Clare makes intuitive use of vibrant hues against endless
sea and sky, to create a sense of place, and time standing still in the artist’s visual memory.
About the Artist
Clare Blackwell is an artist and art educator, specialising in illustration and screen-printing. Clare creates unique and colourful screen-prints on paper and textiles inspired by themes including pop culture, vintage graphics and illustration. Drawing and colour theory influence Clare’s printmaking process.
