About the Piece
The calmness and the power of the sea is something the artist feels a connection to. It is a force of nature, unpredictable and not to be underestimated, but also a constant that is both calming and rhythmic. Through these influences, Grange elicits an emotional connection and allows the viewer time and space to reflect on the human condition.
Grange works through a process that embraces the unpredictability of printmaking. Her work is planned and visualised in advance but she enjoys leaving that space for ‘happy accidents’ and is more than happy to experiment and allow a work to evolve through the creative process.
About the Artist
Izzy Rose Grange is a Dublin based artist and printmaker. She holds a BA in Fine Art Printmaking from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, and has been creating work experimenting with integration and interaction with the sea for a number of years. Her work mainly consists of dynamic compositions which create parity between shifting geometric structures and photographic representations of the sea. This work explores tension and emotion, and plays on the calm yet powerful presence of nature.
