About the Piece
Collaged from photos I took of older couples dancing in the street squares in Mexico City looking every bit in love. This print was put together thinking about being a single woman and how it feels to keep growing older in that position, for better or worse, constructing your own life.
About the Artist
Karen began screen printing many years ago in order to make merchandise for her bands, leading her to work as a print studio technician, commercial printer and tutor alongside her visual arts practice.
Karen has been exhibiting since 2012 in group and solo contexts. Her most recent solo
exhibitions were Loose on the Streets in The Darkroom, September 2022, Scurrying Things, Kenilworth Ln Studios, April 2022, and Fragments, Damn Fine Print, February 2020.
Karen is a multidisciplinary artist working across fine art print, moving image, audio and installation. Karen is currently completing an artist residency Future Labs with DAS Belfast and has recently completed a residency at The Darkroom, D7. Karen is a current recipient of the Arts Council Bursary and a previous recipient of the Arts Council Agility Award.
